Overview

The Dell XPS 13 9310 2-in-1 is a premium 13.4-inch Windows convertible focused on mobility, build quality, and daily productivity. In this tested configuration, it combines an Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor, 16 GB of LPDDR4x memory, and a 1 TB SSD. The key idea is simple: one compact device for laptop work and tablet-style use with a 360-degree hinge.

Design and Build

This model keeps the clean XPS look and uses premium materials. The review unit in Platinum Silver uses carbon fiber, while Arctic White uses white glass fiber. Build quality is very solid, and the hinge allows one-hand opening while still feeling stable. At 1.3 kg, it is portable for a laptop, though still heavy if used as a handheld tablet for long sessions.

Display, Audio, and Webcam

The 13.4-inch 16:10 panel reaches up to 500 nits brightness and around 1800:1 contrast, which helps both indoor and outdoor work. The downside is the glossy finish, which can produce strong reflections in bright sun. Speakers are loud enough for everyday media, but can sound more muted in some positions because of their placement. The 720p webcam is fine for routine video calls, and IR sensors support reliable Windows Hello face login.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The keyboard has large keys, clear white legends, and backlighting. Key travel is short at 0.7 mm, so comfort depends on your typing preference. The power button includes a fingerprint scanner that responds accurately in regular use. The touchpad is large, smooth, and supports multi-touch gestures well.

Performance

For office tasks and multitasking, the Core i7-1165G7 with Iris Xe handles work smoothly, including many browser tabs, documents, spreadsheets, and light photo editing. Older or lighter games are playable at medium settings, while newer titles generally require low settings. The 1 TB SSD gives enough space for large apps and files without immediate upgrades.

Ports, Battery, Heat, and Noise

Connectivity is modern but minimal: two Thunderbolt 4/USB-C ports, a microSD reader, and a headphone jack. Many users will need dongles for USB-A or HDMI accessories. Battery life is a strong point: around 14 hours in video playback or document/web work at 50% brightness, while heavy workloads can reduce this to about 2-3 hours. In light use, the chassis stays comfortable and fan noise is low; under load, fan noise can reach about 38 dB but remains tolerable.

Verdict

The Dell XPS 13 9310 2-in-1 is a well-built premium convertible for users who want portability, a bright touchscreen, and long battery life in daily productivity. The main trade-offs are short key travel, reflective glossy display behavior outdoors, and a limited port selection. If your workflow fits USB-C/Thunderbolt and you value mobility first, it is a strong option in the high-end 13-inch class.
