Overview

HP Pavilion Gaming 16 is a 16.1-inch gaming laptop focused on strong mid-range performance at a lower price point than premium gaming lines. This configuration combines an Intel Core i7-10750H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q graphics, 16 GB RAM, and dual storage with both SSD and HDD. The chassis is plastic, but the source review reports good build rigidity and practical everyday usability.

Design and Build

The laptop uses an all-plastic body, but the construction is described as solid with no major flex in normal use. The look is minimal, with green accents on the logo and keyboard backlight. Side bezels are slim, while the top and bottom bezels are thicker. At 2.44 kg, it is still reasonably portable for a 16-inch gaming model.

Display and Multimedia

The 16.1-inch Full HD IPS panel has a matte finish and good contrast in the source measurements, but brightness headroom is limited. This makes outdoor work less comfortable, while indoor use is more practical. Speakers are tuned with Bang & Olufsen branding and provide enough volume for a small room, but bass is limited. The 1 MP webcam is usable for basic calls, with modest image quality.

Keyboard and Input

The island-style keyboard has a standard layout, clear key feedback, and a two-level green backlight. Frequently used keys such as Enter and Shift are large and convenient. The touchpad is large and responsive, with reliable gesture support according to the source review.

Performance and Gaming

For daily workloads, the Core i7-10750H and 16 GB RAM provide smooth operation. Gaming performance benefits from the GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q, and the source testing indicates playable results at high to ultra settings in demanding titles from that period. Dual storage also helps balance system responsiveness and total capacity.

Ports, Battery, and Thermals

Connectivity is practical: USB Type-C with DisplayPort, HDMI, Ethernet, SD card reader, and two USB 3.1 ports. Wireless support is Wi-Fi 5 rather than Wi-Fi 6. The 52 Wh battery is reported to last around 7-8 hours in lighter web or video scenarios, while gaming drains it much faster. Under load, the cooling system becomes clearly audible and chassis temperatures rise in hot zones.

Verdict

HP Pavilion Gaming 16 is a sensible choice for users who want strong gaming-class hardware without moving to a more expensive premium segment. Its main strengths are CPU/GPU capability, practical storage configuration, and solid overall build quality for the class. The main compromises are limited display brightness, older Wi-Fi standard, noticeable noise under load, and less convenient upgrade access.
